Strong illumination, but short runtime and battery fitting hassles take a little of the shine off

Moon’s most powerful light has some neat features but the hefty battery is low on run time. Four Cree XML U2 LEDs give low-powered peripheral but lots of saturation and good reach in the centre for uncompromising ride speed.

The flat but very long (17cm) battery can be awkward to fit though, and you’ll need to keep a close eye on the five-LED battery indicator because run time is surprisingly short for such a heavy cell. Luckily a plug-in remote switch makes output changes easy, and separation of the four power modes and three flashing modes by a double click is a welcome touch. It can be recharged with the conventional charger supplied or a USB cable. The hinged thumbwheel clamp is secure and a helmet mount is included too.
