Makes a noise, but unfortunately it’s much too easily silenced

A great idea: put a motion-sensing circuit in a lock, and if it’s tampered with the alarm will go off and the thief will scarper.

As we say, a great idea. But there are issues. First, the casing of the lock barrel is chromed plastic and it cracked when we dropped it. Plus, while the alarm is fairly loud, you can subdue the speaker by covering it with your hand.

In action, our bolt croppers severed the wire-coated cable in 1.98 seconds. We then smashed the lock barrel onto the ground where it splintered… and went very silent. It’s a shame this idea has been wasted on such a cheaply built product.
