A change in design, but still difficult to break.

For the new 2005 model, the New York saw the introduction of a new flat key lock mechanism over the previous cylinder-style lock, while the dual deadbolts securing the shackle to the lock body remain.

In use, the shackle measures 207mm by 102mm and is completely filled with just the frame and rear wheel and an immoveable object, meaning you have to further secure the front wheel or take it with you.

The lock still lives up to its heritage and resisted all manual attacks for five minutes of constant battering. Breaking out the power tools proved that the New York is just as obstinate as an immovable bull elephant - it would have taken over 10 minutes to break the lock by cutting through both arms of the shackle with a disc cutter.
