If you’re not a fan of full body armour, but still want to be protected, this might be for you. The Bionic Back Protector protects your back without any frontal frills.
It’s not too hot – comparable to wearing a thick T-shirt, but more breathable thanks to the specially designed airflow layer. It fits with a strap around each shoulder, and a belt around the waist with some thin foam padding to protect against kidney-jabbing trees.
The five plates of back protection slide in and out of each other when you bend, and help to stop you extending too far, guarding against more than just impacts. It fitted well, was adjustable enough and we could run it with an Alpinestars BNS neck brace too.
