Majors on comfort over all-out performance – a good choice for sportives

Bianchi might be Italian for white, but the Centostrade 105 is still outrageous in its eye-assaulting whiteness – white hubs, rims, tyres, frame, saddle, even the brake callipers. We found it easily comfortable enough for long-distance riding, and the frame absorbs road shock well.

But the wheels aren’t sufficiently stiff and when you put force through the bar you can see the rims bending. This amount of flex does make out-of-the-saddle sprints feel uncertain. For smooth-pedalling sportive and fitness riders the Centostrade is worth thinking about, but upgrade the wheels if you’re a big, powerful sprinter.
