Our review
Light hydrating electrolyte drink without an overpowering taste

Nuun (pronounced ‘noon’) is a low calorie, lightly carbonated, electrolyte drink that contains a mix of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Sugar free and containing only eight calories, Nuun enables you to replace the minerals lost in sweat, without taking on extra calories when you don’t need them.

Mixing the drink is simple: fill a bottle with 473ml of water (most short bottles filled to the top hold roughly 590ml of liquid), drop a tablet in, wait until it is completely dissolved, and drink.

While out riding, Nuun went down easy and did not cause us any gastric distress. Despite being considerably lighter both in mouthfeel and on the stomach than many of its counterparts, we found the drink to be a tad sticky out in the heat, preventing the feeling of a hydrated mouth. After our first few sips of Nuun we actually found the drink made us thirsty – causing us to drink more often than we usually would have, and so fostering better hydration.

As for taste, we found Nuun to be subdued. The hint of flavour was a nice change from the stronger and sweeter drinks we often use.

Like most people, we don’t have the luxury of a team car loaded with cold drinks, and so we enjoyed the portability of the Nuun tube. No matter how sweaty we got, the tablets stayed completely dry and ready for a mid-ride bottle refill.

Nuun’s a great option for a hard day out on the bike, but also for a late night on the town. One tablet of Nuun helped one tester to come back to life after a hard evening out.

Nuun's range has now grown to 11 flavors: Tropical, Orange, Tri-Berry, Citrus Fruit, Bananna, Grape, Strawberry Lemonade, Lemon+Lime, Fruit Punch, Watermelon, and Lemonade there is something to take anyone’s fancy. Our personal favorite is Strawberry Lemonade.
