Of course, you can’t heat up carbon fibre and remould it (not yet, anyway. Hey, we could be on to something…), but the R300’s upper is infused with a thermo-form plastic that allows the shoe to be heated up and moulded to the shape of your upper-foot, giving the best fit around.
The thermo-form insole also adapts to your foot shape with time. And the carbon sole, too, merits more than a mention: its super-stiff one-piece construction weighs five per cent less than Shimano’s former top-of-the-range shoe by integrating the heel cup into the sole.
