A welcome addition to the women's scene, suited for competition use

Time, the French shoe and pedal specialists, have entered the women-specific market with three new models - the Axion L walkable road shoe and two RXL designs, descending from the recently revamped men's RXS.

The cheaper, non-carbon version we tested features a polyamide sole that's still incredibly stiff and compatible with two and three-bolt cleats.

There are two Velcro straps and a ratcheting top buckle that works smoothly and swings out of the way when not in use. The fit is snug and the sizes seem to run small, especially as the toe box is slightly triangular in shape. The padded tongue fits comfortably over the feet and there are plenty of mesh inserts and underfoot vents for air flow. Minimal plastic sole pads don't provide much to stand on though. Time also introduced new lighter tensioned women's specific RXL pedals to match the shoes.
