The iXS Slope knee pads feature an antibacterial mesh, which is sturdy enough to withstand abuse and claims to stop the pads smelling. So far, so fresh.
The fit is great, with a decent amount of coverage from high above the knee all the way down and over the upper part of the shin. They don’t ride up or slip down when pedalling for extended periods of time either, which is really important.
There are two adjustable Velcro straps – one above and one below the knee – which are nice and wide, as well as the KneeGusset horseshoe-shaped padding that keeps them neatly in place on the knee. There’s extra padding on the insides of the pad for frame grabbing antics.
The main pad is semi-hard and perfect for all except the worst impacts. At the back of the knee there’s a large cutaway section that prevents the guards from bunching up, and we found them to be comfortable all day long, with only a few minor adjustments needed to keep them in place
