Troy Lee Designs T-Bone knee pads

Our review

A great set of trail riding pads for the money. Extremely comfortable and hard to fault

The T-Bone IIs are, unsurprisingly, the second iteration of these popular knee pads from Troy Lee Designs. This time around they’ve been made lighter and more movement-friendly.

The low-profile pads are held in place by two adjustable Velcro straps – one up top, one at the bottom – along with an upper strip of silicone. Everything is held together by a vented, stretchy sleeve, which helps to prevent bunching and movement when you’re turning the cranks. There’s a large, memory foam knee cup to take the hits head on, and additional padding either side of the knee to take on any awkward knocks too.

The T-Bone IIs have a snug fit. We thought they might be too tight initially, but once on the trail, comfort was excellent thanks to the ergonomic fit of the knee cup. Shift around on the bike, hammer the pedals, sweat like crazy and they stay just where they need to be. Their low weight and the level of protection on offer means they’re definitely more suited to trail riding than full-on downhill racing though.
