Great value, great fitting, titanic body armour

The Titan is the latest bike-specific body armour from Fox Europe. It’s made from a combination of high-impact plastic plating and vented mesh, and the fit is snug and comfy as soon as you pull it on.

The whole thing is held in place by adjustable cuffs on the arms, along with a chunky Velcro chest strap. The secure fit also ensures that the articulated removable spine-board doesn’t ride up like some armour we’ve used in the past.

Wearing armour is always going to be hotter than not, but the Titan benefits from under-arm cutaways, and the mesh helps keep things cool too. One of the only drawbacks with the Titan is that you will need a larger neck-brace than usual to fit over the top of the armour, and even then it will sit higher than usual.

The thing we liked most was the Titan’s superb range of movement. The close-fit of the plastic shoulder and lower arm armour means that you’re free to throw the bike around. All the straps keep it in place too and ensure that it doesn’t ride up at all.

We’re not normally fans of chest-plates but Fox’s are cut in at the sides so that you’re never really aware that they’re there. We also liked the inclusion of sturdy foam padding around the lower back and kidney area. All this for £85? Absolute bargain.
