Our review
Understated yet high-performance softshell with some well-designed features at a very good price

Among Wiggle’s extensively redesigned DHB range is the Windslam softshell, with fabric like Gore’s Windstopper – a close-woven, stretchy, fleece-backed material that’s warm and keeps the breeze out with a laminated polyurethane layer inside.

There’s a surface coating that makes rain bead and roll off up to a point – it’s fine in showers and, because the wind’s not reaching you, you’ll stay warm. But not too warm – the fabric is impressively breathable.

Further draft-proofing is provided by the high collar (complete with zip guard), waist drawstrings and Velcro wrist closures. Reflective piping down the back and sleeves plus a strip across the rear pocket aids visibility.

There are additional pockets with zips at the sides – the actual pockets face backwards, which stops the contents sagging in front but requires a knack to use. Employing the opposite hand helps. Fit is good, although the Windslam could benefit from slightly longer sleeves.
