A well-thought-out jacket that can be easily stashed away and won’t cripple your wallet

This is Endura’s entry-level waterproof shell, but does it man-up to the job? Constructed from compact 2L waterproof fabric, the Laser II keeps you bone dry in even the most torrential downpour.

Fit is slightly baggier than some of Endura’s higher-end jackets but it is adjustable via one-handed drawcords at the waist and collar, making it easy to tweak on the trail.

The lairy orange colour and reflective strips keep you visible, and the whole thing folds down neatly into the waterproof rear pocket for easy storage.

There are even Velcro loops to attach the folded down Laser to your frame if you like that sort of thing. The only thing missing is some venting for when things get a bit clammy.

Just under £40 gets you a good-fitting waterproof jacket that looks half decent too – we reckon that’s great value.
