Gore Alp X Jacket review

This jacket couldn't be more bike specific...The rounded back cut fits perfectly when riding; the collar has an extra long, articulated shape; the sleeves are velcro-cuffed, and an extendable tail wraps right round under your bum.

Great performance and fit but you pay a high price for the cloth and the cut

This jacket couldn't be more bike specific...The rounded back cut fits perfectly when riding; the collar has an extra long, articulated shape; the sleeves are velcro-cuffed, and an extendable tail wraps right round under your bum. Collar and hem are cordlocked for draught-proofing too.

The breathability and storm-proofing of the Paclite fabric is first rate, staying dry at a steady cruise and drying fast after warm/wet work. The long mesh strip vent under the clamshell front zip storm flaps lets water in though, and the sleeves are tight over bare arms, let alone a thermal. The fabric is durable and revivable (iron/tumble dry), weight is low at 272g, and it (just about) stuffs into its own back pocket.
