Gore make some of our favourite riding gear and the big news for 2013 is that most of their popular performance pieces now come in super-safe high-visibility neon yellow, with prices ranging from £29.99 to £189.99 (some pieces are available in the US, from $49.99 to $199.99).

With a few exceptions high-visibility clothing has always meant low performance, cheap fabric, baggy cut commuter clobber or industrial-type outfits. Now, no less than eight Gore Bike Wear tops, including the £79.99 Power Thermo jersey up to the superb £189.99 Xenon 2.0 Windstopper (as well as five different gloves, arm warmers, knee warmers plus Windstopper and Gore-Tex overshoes) are as retina grabbing as a road mender.

We’ve already been saved from at least a couple of “sorry mate I didn’t see you” accidents in the week we’ve been wearing them. This winter looks like the first where we will be comfortable and visible.
