Our review
Ethically and environmentally sound but limited performance for serious cyclists

Veleco are a new British clothing brand who are highly focused on making ethically sound and eco-friendly garments. The Re:Cycle Softshell Jacket is made from 100 percent recycled polyester. The manufacturing is based in Pakistan at a factory that’s WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) and Fairtrade certified.

We admire the responsible thinking behind the brand and are impressed with the construction of the softshell jacket, with taped seams, reflective details and a mesh lining.

Sadly, though, the jacket’s performance is hindered by some details. The sizing is very generous. Some of the features just aren’t cycling specific enough. At the back the large zipped pocket will hold everything you need for a ride and the flip out reflective detailed flap is a nice touch.

But the tail doesn’t have any drop and the arms come up short when stretched out on the bars. They’re also generously wide, fine if you’re wearing your civvies but flappy when you’re not.

The material has good water repellence but can become overwhelmed on truly wet days.
