Best suited to cooler spring and late autumnal days

The Element hugs the body closely, thanks to Assos's stretchy, windproof and water repellent fabric. What else does all that cash get you?

Great build quality and loads of bike-friendly detailing. The thick, spongy collar is cut high at the front and low at the back. It looks odd but works really well when riding, as it doesn't scrunch up against the back of your neck and keeps out draughts - the whole cut works best on the saddle. There's a drop-down flap to protect the buttock zone, as Assos put it, from road spray, as well as a zippered side pocket and reflective piping on the shoulders. Although a mesh panel across the back helps breathability, it's best suited to cooler spring and late autumnal days.

Colours: blue, yellow, red, white, titan (grey). Sizes: S, M, L, XL, XLG, TIR (XLG but wider). Size tested: L. Weight: 203g.
