Continental’s distinctive yellow and black gilet is like a logo-covered version of the Lusso Tactel gilet that we’ve reviewed favourably in the past. It’s very simple and light, with a three-quarter meshed back and windproof front and shoulders.
Unlike the Lusso, the Conti lacks reflective piping. It does get a storm flap under the zip, although this is quite thin, and care is needed not to snag it with the zip. The hem is elasticated, and the collar and armholes aren’t too loose. It is rather thin, though, so it doesn’t give the same wind-chill protection as, say, the Assos.
Still, for brisk riding there’s little to choose between this and the Adidas. Like the Adidas, Rapha and Pearl Izumi gilets, the Continental packs small and weighs little – and it’s much cheaper than any of them. While it is about 20g lighter, it is a fiver dearer than the Lusso.
