Our review
Tough trail shorts with a well thought-out design

The Zenith shorts from Madison boast a well thought-out design that does a great job of balancing form and function. Because of this, they outperform far more expensive shorts.

Double elasticated waist adjusters mean getting the fit of the Zenith shorts just right is easy. They offer an extensive range of adjustment, although the tabs do protrude a little.

The zipped hip pockets are just big enough for you to stash essentials, such as your car keys, securely without the pockets feeling overpacked. They don't flap around when you pedal either. There are also two zipped cargo style pockets, along with a waterproof phone pocket tucked towards the rear.

The stretchy fabric has held up well through testing, shrugging off months of abuse on the trail – including a couple of crashes – and numerous spins in the washing machine. The only real sign that we've even used them is a bit of discolouration on the phone pocket's waterproof zip.
