High durability and neat features set these apart from the crowd and justify the pricetag too

The Sessions’ nylon outer is rough and tough enough to survive the occasional twig-twanging and unscheduled tumble, while stretch panels around the yoke and inside leg provide with plenty of unrestricted movement.

The elasticated waist comes with a mesh inner face that wicks sweat well and a webbing belt that lets you tighten the fit.

The zipped pockets on the legs drop down inside the shorts if you load anything heavy in there, but the hip pockets provide more stowage space.

The shell fabric is fairly heavyweight and doesn’t let as much breeze in as some but, on the other hand, it’s fast drying. When you need to seal the cool air out, Velcro-style leg adjusters do the job just fine.

The teabag-like LS Pro mesh liner, bought separately (£35), is flat-stitched throughout and comes with a comfortable, contoured Coolmax pad.

Also consider: Polaris do a similar women’s model, the Angel, at the same price.
