A great outer short that’s let down by the liner

These shorts feel great the instant you put them on but unfortunately don't turn out as well on the trail.

The initial good impressions may be down to the liner system. It attaches to the shell with a series of studs, so effectively it’s the close fit of the liner that holds these shorts in place because there’s no shell adjustment.

This is great if they fit, but you are relying on the inner short to do all the work.

On the bike it didn't work as well as we’d hoped, because it had an annoying tendency to ride up between the legs creating an interesting effect at the front and reducing the amount of padding doing its protective job at the back.

It was a bit of a shame because the shape and shell construction is excellent, with just the right balance
