Our review
A great combination of warmth, fit, good performance and looks

Pros:

Storage, reflectives on the jersey, good fit on the bibs

Cons:

Sizing inconsistent between jersey and shorts, no zip garage

Santini has collaborated with multiple World, European and National champion Lizzie Deignan to create a new collection of women’s cycling kit.

The Lizzie X Santini collection consists of two kit ranges: Coral and Passo. The Passo includes a jersey and tights, while the Coral kit tested here features a jersey and bib tights.

Lizzie X Santini construction and fabrics

Both the jersey and bib tights are constructed from fleece-backed Lycra, which is soft and warm against the skin. It provides protection enough to ward off the chill but with enough breathability at the jersey back to allow sweat to evaporate away.

There are plenty of pockets for storage in the Coral jersey: three at the back and two that sit at the hips mean you can fit in snacks, tools, a waterproof jacket, your phone and anything else you can think of.

Lizzie X Santini fit and comfort

As a curvy UK14/16, I wore the size XL. While the leggings were generous in cut to the extent we could probably go down a size for a closer fit, the jersey is constructed from a firmer fabric with less stretch.

It did fit, but was very snug across the bust, and since the fabric is white Lycra with a print, that did cause a noticeable slightly paler patch.

I was impressed with the sleeve, body and leg length. At 5ft 8in I'm above average in height, and was happy to find no issue or draughts from any of these points, with nice cuff overlap with gloves.

I haven’t come across the strap arrangement on the bib tights before. The front consists of a mesh panel that covers the stomach and chest, with the straps sitting over the shoulder to the back.

It’s almost as if it’s the wrong way round, so I had to check using the chamois for reference. In action, it felt fine and provides an extra layer of protection for the chest and allows you to unzip the jersey to regulate temperature.

The peacock-inspired pattern on the jersey is repeated on the mesh upper of the bib tights. The range is available in three colours: burgundy (pictured), water (blue) and violet (dark purple with a pink zip).
