Pretty standard fabric but the seat pad and cut are excellent

The Contests are made from a Lycra-weight nylon/elastane mix so they're suitable for warmer spring days rather than frosty mornings, and you'll get plenty of summer use out of them too.

Gore's superb multi-depth seat pad provides comfortable cushioning and stretches in all directions as you move, and the elastic-strand leg grippers, though not the most high-tech ever, work just fine to prevent any riding up. Wide mesh straps add ventilation and spread the load while nearly all the seams are flatlocked and they're positioned out of the way to minimise discomfort; one does run down behind the pre-shaped knee, but it's in the middle rather than over your prominent tendons, so you stay abrasion-free even on long rides. You get a reflective logo on one leg.
