With the Massimo, Louis Garneau have designed a pair of bib tights for the types of winters experienced in their Canadian homeland. The front panels combine three fabrics. A mesh-like fleeced inner with a wind and water-resistant layer sandwiched under a quick drying, abrasion resistant shell.
Sewn into this is one of the deepest, plushest pads we’ve ever tried. It has a good level of stretch and plenty of comfort. It favours bigger riders, but I guess they build ‘em big in Canada. They’re topped with a lightweight mesh set of braces but it’s good to see the technical fabric extend up over the midriff.
Save a couple of small logo’s they don’t have much in the way of reflective details and the ankle cuffs have decent grippers but non locking zips. The weather resistance is excellent, wind proofing is spot on and while not totally waterproof, they’re quick to dry and we never got cold, even in deluges. The fabric is stiffer than a full Lycra tight and quite noisy (scrunching), but it has a decent amount of stretch and clever seam positioning kept them comfortable.
