Cheaper than Dura-Ace and Record, and performs easily as well

THE R960 IS TRP’s flagship lightweight brakeset and at 240g it’s lighter than the top-of-the-range brakes from Campagnolo, Shimano and SRAM, and cheaper than Campag and Shimano (though SRAM’s Red callipers are cheaper).

On other lightweight brakes we’ve found that some of the stopping power is sacrificed in the rush to reduce weight. The R960s, though, are made from cold-forged 6061 aluminium, which is then machined and pared down to the slotted I-beam shaped arms you see here.

The TRP’s solidity and stiffness is apparent in abundance with no fore and aft movement or sloppiness even under full power. This, paired with the excellent pads, makes for a brake with all the power and progressive feel you could want.

The brake’s quick-release is a contained sliding arm which when pushed in and up allows the cable carrier to be slid sideways, opening the arms. It’s a simple, elegant solution which adds little mass to the design.

Aside from the excellent SwissStop pads, all of the hardware is titanium, reducing weight and increasing resistance to corrosion. It's available in red anodised (shown), and black.
