TRP Dash disc brake review
TRP is Tektro’s premium Racing Product range and the Dash master cylinder is a very clean and crisp piece with a hinged clamp for easy fitting. It’s not flippable, but the mineral oil system is easy to bleed and there’s a red anodised reach adjuster for the broad alloy lever.
The single piece calliper saves more weight and has an angle adjuster for clean frame alignment. The Dash also takes old Shimano XT style pads so finding spares is easy. There’s a really good positive feel at the lever for traction control and while dyno results were average it feels plenty powerful on the trail as long as you bed it in properly.
The current rotor brings weight down to the 400g mark which is impressively competitive for the price – and it’s worth noting that there’s a lighter 180mm second generation rotor in development to match the current featherweight 160mm setup. Reliability has been excellent from all the long-term sets we’ve tried, making it one of the best fit-and-forget brake options around.
