The No 1 fork choice of Eurobike’s ultralight concept bikes, DT’s XRC100 is now ready to hit the UK trails again. We say again, because this fork is DT’s revamped version of the Commonwealth Games and World Cup winning Pace RC39 race fork.
With its skinny 28mm legs it’s obviously a racer fork, but the hollow carbon carcass is impressively stiff considering its narrow stance. At 1,400g, it’s lighter than a SID fork, with the Manitou R7 being the only thing lighter from a major competitor.
The fork’s race credentials are also backed up by its feature list. The neat remote lockout lever leaves enough movement for traction without disturbing your sprint. There’s a blow-off valve to keep you safe if you forget to release it before a descent too.
Running open, it’s impressively controlled and fluid through mid-stroke and rising rate end. So while you probably shouldn’t jump or launch it deliberately, it’s not going to hold you back when your wheels are on the ground.
DT Swiss rear shocks have always been super reliable too, so hopefully durability of other units will match the faultless few months we’ve had with this one. If that’s the case then the high price will certainly be more forgivable.
