Magura's unique twin brace design really gets to grips with the trail to showcase the Laurin's smooth full feature performance. After years of Maguras taking months to settle in, the slick action of these Laurins straight from the box is a shock.
The Marzocchi-like appetite to level out even the smallest bumps/roots/rough on the trail makes for excellent comfort and traction. It handles the big stuff well too, with easy tuning through the separately adjustable low and high speed 'Albert Plus' compression damping and the currently unique twin brace design and chunky dropouts lock down tracking stiffness for outstanding cornering and off-camber precision.
Dropout and disc mount faces get corrosion resistant stainless steel plates, while Magura hydraulic rim brake and hose guides are cast into the legs for neat setup. They'll take a 200mm (8in) rotor for mountain use too, but they're still a reasonable weight despite their strength.
The bar mounted damping remote needs some juggling (and a silly small 1mm Allen key) to find somewhere its bulk sits comfortably, though. Unfortunately, our first set (and another local set) both blew up after a couple of months use, although the third set we've got is still running fine, as are our Menja and Wotan samples.
100mm and 85mm travel plus custom coloured versions are also available.
