Marzocchi 44 Micro Ti fork

Our review

Not light but potentially plush, tuneable and succulently controlled if you’re patient with the setup

The 44’s structure, complete with slippery nickel stanchions, is acceptably stiff in steering terms in the quick-release format of our sample, but the QR15 screw-through version would definitely be our choice for more aggressive riding.

While the RC3 Ti gets a full titanium spring, the Micro Ti just gets a long negative spring made from the wonder metal. This helps overcome initial stiction in the air spring and, although it feels notchy in the workshop, can be set up super-plush on the trail.

However, accurate pressure setting and use of the volume adjust feature is vital to stop it diving without feeling too tight and wooden.

Damping control (particularly in rebound) from the TST Micro system is great and covers fully open to adjustable lockout settings. It can be spaced for either 120mm or 140mm travel and, while significantly heavier than claimed, it is well priced.
