Our review
A proven gravity warhorse with a smooth and basically adjustable action

Marzocchi’s most basic 888 is the cheapest double clamp 200mm travel fork available and it’s enough fork for most non-racers. It’s very heavy, but the 888 chassis has been around long enough to prove durability.

The bolted 20mm axle is secure and the wide stance gives useful steering lock. The supple, coil-sprung action also keeps it well connected to the ground.

Externally adjustable rebound and compression damping are on the basic side. There’s enough scope to set it up butter smooth for grip or bluff for big drops, depending on usage. While this fork can get sloppy, it generally soldiers on fine for ages if you look after it.
