Our review

Heavy and short on freeride capability but a versatile, fit-and-forget trail fork

The Pike has been around for years, but it’s still one of our favourite forks. Every time we do test a batch of suspension forks the one fork we always get asked whether it’s ‘going spare’ is the Pike.

The combination of simple, reliable Maxle 360 axle and coil sprung control makes it a pleasure to plug in. The easily understandable rebound, compression and platform damping, and the wide travel adjustment range means it’ll add instant versatility and aggression to a lot of different bikes too.

If we have to criticise, 140mm (5.5in) of travel won’t be enough for everyone, and it is fairly heavy. You can’t argue with the price though and the superb reliability means we’re happy to work around the old school international standard disc mount.
