RockShox have completely restructured their Revelation to knock off 200g of weight and gain 10mm of travel. It’s lost some stiffness but superb overall performance and control still make it our favourite trail fork.
The new chassis with Power Bulge legs (inherited from RockShox’s downhill forks) plus a titanium Motion Control damper spring help to keep the weight down. While it’s more flexible under maximum turning load than the 2009 Revelation, the Maxle screw-through 20mm axle means it still carves and holds a line though rockeries better than its 15mm-axled competition.
The combination of Dual Air negative and positive air springs lets you set up the stroke and initial sensitivity to taste. It also has a more consistent and capable feel than the U-Turn travel adjust versions in violent situations. Dual Flow rebound valving in the BlackBox damper keeps kickback controlled and the front tyre superbly connected.
The harder you land or the faster you attack multiple rocks, steps and drops the better it feels, making it a fantastic fork for hard-hitting riders. Reliability is typically excellent for RockShox and there’s a wide range of cable or hydraulic remote options.
