Revelation XX Dual Air (11)
With a tapered steerer, power bulges on the lower legs, hydraulic lock-out lever and the Maxle Lite, the XX fork is very tough. It’s light too, at 1,724g (with a cut steerer). We rode the Dual Air model with 150mm (5.9in) travel, which can be reduced to 140mm (5.5in) or 130mm (5.1in).
With Dual Flow rebound damping, the ending stroke rebound is factory set to control on bigger hits, but the beginning stroke is adjustable with the knob on the leg’s base. Compression damping is a little basic. While the Blackbox damper on the RLT model has a lock-out dial, threshold and compression adjustments, the XX features the XLoc hydraulic lever, with adjustable Gate, and a factory set compression. It’s still effective, but the Dual Air spring is the real weapon, with its plush feel and tunability.
We ran higher pressure in the negative spring, which felt ultra plush, but really ramps up for the big hits. The Revelation is very stiff torsionally, and under braking it’s very stiff back and forwards. For ultimate compression control, go RLT, but for lock-out convenience the XX delivers.
