Spinner is the manufacturer of lots of brand forks, but the Talon is its own entry to the budget XC fork fray.
It’s certainly impressively light, and the remote handlebar-mounted lockout lever is a definite bonus for the low price. The skinny structure means it’s easily shoved off line or distorted under braking though, but you’ll learn to adjust your riding style to cope with this most of the time. The spring rate is set by the single air chamber, but the SPUL damping is completely non adjustable. It has a nasty clunking top out – even after mid-sized hits – and while it’s otherwise about right for most riders and trail situations, if your ride preferences or spring rate needs are outside average, then you’re out of luck. Also, while Spinner’s manufacturing pedigree is proven, these forks aren’t yet.
