Tough but not cheap or light and shortlived BB affects value

Race Face's mid-range XC cranks are purposeful looking units that'll pimp any bike. The cold forged construction is obvious in the largely rough finish, with logo and edge detailing chased out in shiny bare CNC alloy for lasting looks.

The butted steel axle feels stiff and sturdy underfoot, although the splined fix onto the driveside needs serious leverage to tighten it properly snug. They're very secure once they're on though.

The SHIFT rings are reasonably tough and reliable chain movers with more picked out CNC detailing to match the arms.

However, Race Face bottom brackets don't last very well so you'll be looking at buying a new set fairly soon if you're riding in bad, gritty UK trail conditions. With Shimano's XT £45 cheaper and 64g lighter they struggle on overall value too.
