Temperamental setup and below par lifespan negate its good looks

FSA have done a great job of making this budget crank look more expensive than it is. Performance is less outstanding though.

The shiny anodised finish certainly stands out in this price range, although those good looks won’t last long if you’re an ankle scuffer.

The cold-forged and heat-treated 6061 aluminium arms and fixed steel axle are stiff enough to stomp power through without noticeable warp, and the crankset is reasonably light.

Unfortunately, the stamped alloy middle chainring doesn’t last long in gritty conditions and FSA bottom brackets rely on accurate installation and crank tightening not to squeeze the bearings and unduly shorten life.
