A true hardcore crank whose appeal has been boosted by a recent price drop

The Diabolus is the daddy of hardcore cranks and has had a serious price cut for 08.

We reckon it’s the best-looking in its class too; everything is laser-etched with the Race Face logo, from the centre of the cranks to the bash guard and even the bolt heads.

The hard anodized black finish looks great and doesn’t wear off after two rides, either.

As soon as you bolt them on to the bike, you’ll notice their impressive stiffness.

Race Face uses the patented I-LOCK reinforced pedal interface to give extra strength where it’s needed, and the gold external bottom bracket can take a proper beating.

A beefed-up spider solves their previous ‘death by monster bashguard impact’ Achilles heel and the pedal inserts are totally secure.

The bash guard is solid alloy, unlike the usual polycarbonate items, giving you a much lower-profile guard.

These really are the toughest alloy cranks you can choose without going for a three-piece steel jump set.

With £80 off the price they’re more competitive on cost now, and bottom bracket longevity has been boosted with an injection of Phil Wood grease.

They’re still heavy though, and that alloy bashguard soon gets scarred.
