Light and stiff – but performance could be smoother

Rotor’s new alloy crankset offers carbon beating performance, with a unique oval ring option but noticeable gear grind at extremes.

The arms use Rotor’s Trinity Drilling System technology, which makes them very light without obviously sacrificing stiffness. The unique offset-bolt 76mm BCD stub spider can be swapped for SRAM or Specialized versions, and the rings are available in Rotor’s QX1 oval design to smooth out power delivery, or standard round format. Narrow-wide teeth add chain security but there’s more grind at the extremes of the cassette than with SRAM rings.

Rings and BBs will cost you extra. Performance is on par with similarly priced carbon cranks, and cheaper versions (REX 2 and 3) are available.
