The extra depth of the tapered grip helps to reduce vibrations, while the semi-flanges double up as pads for your palms when resting on the brake/gear shifters for climbs/fire roads. We’ve used them hard for over two years and they’re still usable, although it's almost time we replaced them (£13 when reusing the lock-on collars).
