Our review
Impressively lightweight and comfortable high value alloy bar, but best for careful riders

KCNC are lightweight kit specialists, so it’s no surprise this scandium bar is one of the lightest trail-orientated wide alloy bars available. Scandium has been used as a hardening element for aluminium alloy bike parts for a while, proving itself a trail worthy material.

Centre and tip marks make centring or trimming easy, but the thin walls mean you need to take your time while fitting to avoid potential stress-cumulating scratches. While it’s not very stiff it’s not excessively twangy either. At just over 230g it’s close to many carbon fibre bars in weight, despite being half the price.

The tapered riser section and relatively flat outer ends with slightly less sweep than normal give it a low, 'cross-country race' feel on the bike, which suits its intended users. Scandium alloy and thin wall tubing mean lots of flex and shock absorption in the ride feel, to again suit cross-country users.
