A shining white livery and aero shape mean the Palm is an aesthetic winner – but it’s less pleasing in use. The broad, flattened top is too wide for all but the largest hands to grasp firmly.
In contrast, only the smallest hands will be able to squeeze into the tight radius drop to reach the levers. Moving onto the hoods is also problematic if you want to use older levers, because bar shape at the lever clamp only really makes sense with the new breed of flatter lever profiles.
Poor absorption of road buzz and a noticeably flexible feel when on the hoods mean only die-hard Cinelli fans need apply.
