Our review
Strong, stiff and well made stem.

More than a decade ago Hope created an affordable arena for lightweight aftermarket kit, which included some excellent hubs and bottom brackets, and more recently a range of off-road hydraulic disc brakes that offer looks and performance that's deserving of any loving upgrade.

Their range of stems now extends to this drop forged road model weighing 159g in the 100mm length. There is a very strong resemblance to the German high-end Tune stem and about the same amount of metal has been pared away from the sides using a CNC machine. The clamp is split at an angle to reduce the likelihood of crimping when the clamp bolts are tightened down on to the steerer tube, and it is all finished off with a classy tough black anodized finish. This stem is pitched at the high-end alongside the Syntace Race, but doesn't break any new performance or effectiveness records - it is nevertheless well made. Lengths available are 100, 110 or 120mm with standard or oversized stem eyes and 5 degree rise/fall.
