Buying seconds in time trials can be expensive. This isn't. Buy one

This 35º drop threadless stem – made because Planet X sponsored rider Ian Cammish asked for it – does the same as the dropped quill stems of yesteryear: it lowers your bars. Compared with a flipped 10º stem, this put the bars about 4cm lower.

If you want to time trial faster, the important thing to sort out is your riding position. While there’s a trade off between power and aerodynamics, most of us could afford to flatten our backs by getting lower.

It’s available in 80-130mm lengths for 25.4mm bars, the 100mm one weighing 166g.
