We like the attention to detail on what Race Face consider their entry-level stubby stem. The faceplate mates nicely with the main body to produce a very stiff clamp on the bar and it feels super-sturdy and ready to tackle anything.
The discreet torque settings marked on the stem are great too, and the fact that 5mm bolts are used all round make reaching the correct torque easier than ever.
Our 45mm sample weighed in at 194g, which is pretty hefty considering the price. More subtle graphics would be nice, as would a lower rise option – the 10-degree rise does loft the bar up a little.
