Worth a look if you like to get a bit more extreme with your riding

This burly, industrial-looking beast is the cheapest stem on test, and one of the stiffest. It’ll handle every kind of riding, even downhill duties, thanks to its wide bar clamp area and deep steerer clamp, which are forged from 6061 aluminium. All the bolts are 5mm so there’s no faffing with different Allen keys while fitting it, and it’s easy to torque up nice and tight.

This is worth a look if you like to get a bit more extreme with your riding. At 213g for our 40mm sample, it is quite hefty, and even considering how stiff it is, may be overkill for many riders.
