There are better pedals in Genetic’s range – at £15 these are always going to be basic – but the Power Grips straps are interesting.
They're broad straps that you run diagonally across the pedals to keep your feet in place. You set their length with a simple Allen bolt so they’re not adjustable on the fly, but they’re strong and don’t care about rain, and it’s easy to get your feet out.
The aluminium one-piece pedal body is grippy, but the cup-and-cone bearings felt a bit rough and although they got smoother over time, regreasing and adjustment is awkward.
