A good Shimano alternative if you want SPD compatibility

Ritchey clipless pedals are practically Shimano SPD clones in all but name, but that’s no bad thing.

The V4s are handsome, with a reassuringly direct entry and exit from the cleat, and so similar to the Shimano SH-51 that they'recompletely cross-compatible. The bearings are reasonable, ranking somewhere between Shimano 520s and smoother Time ATACs.

Sealing is decent too, but you’ll be getting to know the inside of these pedals roughly twice a year if you want to look after them and head off wear before it becomes an issue. Easy to maintain at home, they’ll serve you well.
