Impressively light but not as easy to use as others

If you want the convenience of a non-race cycling shoe that you can walk about in but want to use a minimalist single-sided pedal, this brand-new stainless steel bodied V4 is just the ticket.

This diminutive pedal bears some resemblance to the original Shimano SPD road pedal but is considerably lighter at just 310g per pair including cleats and hardware.

While a Shimano SPD cleat will clip into this pedal, and it is compatible with all Mtb type soles, it is advisable to use the cleats supplied and if you are going to use them with race shoes check first that your shoes are compatible with the small Ritchey SPD-type cleats.

The testers found the small platform harder to 'find' than the systems that use a larger cleat, though entry action was positive and the eight degrees of cleat flotation was agreeable. Deck height is just 11mm.
