An excellent, light all-rounder with a sensible pricetag

Bontrager have wheeled out the big measuring guns for their new saddle range, with pressure mapping and 3D motion capture used to come up with the shape and padding of the Evoke. There are standard mountain bike features like the cut-off and reinforced corners, and we like the fat nose that’s designed to be pushed against with your legs in technical terrain. The big nose is fine for balancing on on tricky climbs, too.

It’s a little more swept in profile than many saddles, and there’s a very subtle pressure-relieving hollow in the middle of the saddle. It worked for us, but some riders may prefer a deeper channel. The Evoke is impressively light for a mid-priced seat, although you might also want to consider the lighter and firmer alternative RXL model.
