Comfy for casuals, but the rounded profile and weight will deter racers

Fizik has just revamped its whole Nisene range to adopt some of the WingFlex technology of its Gobi and Arione saddles, with their CP (Comfort Performance) saddle being designed specifically for lower mileage riders.

As a result you get a big blister of extra 'Technogel' padding across the centre ridge and onto the rounded rear platform to cushion novice bottoms. But this creates a noticeably more rounded profile than most saddles and we noticed ourselves slipping from side to side or towards the back more than usual when riding hard.

Then again, riding hard isn't what this saddle is really about, and the deep padding was welcome after putting miles in on the skimpier shells. It was practically impossible to notice any effect from the 'Wing Flex' shell gills on the sides though, compared to the cossetting comfort of the Gobi. Long rails give plenty of fore and aft adjustment though, and Topeak's range of saddle packs clip straight in underneath once you've removed the backing plate - which is handy. Manganese steel rails still don't stop all the gel making it a hefty couch for the money.
